Hidden and Quiet Beaches on Elba Island
Elba's quieter beaches and calmer corners, from the overlooked cove of La Sorgente to the quieter edges of Cavoli and Lacona.
Elba's most famous beaches, Fetovaia, Sansone, Marina di Campo, get genuinely busy in July and August. But the island also has quieter options: one beach that's overlooked simply because it sits next to a more famous neighbour, and two longer beaches where the crowd thins out considerably once you move away from the main access points.
None of these are secret or hard to find, they're just less obvious than Elba's headline beaches.
La Sorgente: Overlooked by Design

La Sorgente is Elba's clearest case of a genuinely quiet beach: it sits on the same path as Sansone, shares the same cliffs and clear water, but most visitors walk straight past it toward the more famous cove further along. The result is a small, unserviced beach that stays noticeably calmer even in peak season.
- Best for: the same scenery as Sansone with a fraction of the crowd.
- Good to know: come prepared, since there's no rental point or facilities directly on this beach.
Cavoli: A Quiet Cove Around the Point

Cavoli's main beach is one of Elba's liveliest, with beach parties and DJ sets a regular summer feature. But around a low cliff at the western end sits a much smaller, roughly 50-metre cove that stays noticeably calmer, popular with people looking to get away from the main beach's energy without leaving the area entirely.
- Best for: a quick escape from the crowds without a long drive.
- Good to know: it's a short walk around the point from the main beach, with no separate facilities of its own.
Lacona: Quieter Away From the Main Access Points

Lacona is long enough, almost 1.2 km, that its crowd levels vary a lot depending on where you settle. The stretches near the main car parks and campsites get busy in summer, but the flanks of the bay, further from those access points, stay considerably quieter.
- Best for: families or groups wanting Lacona's shallow water with more breathing room.
- Good to know: a short drive to one of the further-flung access points usually finds more open sand than the closest one.
Finding Elba's Quieter Corners
If you want a whole beach that stays quiet, La Sorgente is the clearest option on this list, though it means giving up any facilities. If you'd rather stay near a livelier main beach but still have a calmer option nearby, Cavoli's western cove and Lacona's quieter flanks both let you dial down the crowd without changing your plans entirely.
