Overview

Alba Adriatica sits at the very northern edge of the Abruzzo coast, right where the region meets Marche, and its beach - nicknamed the "Silver Beach" for the shimmering tone the sand takes on in the sunlight - runs for close to three kilometres of fine, gently sloping sand. It's part of what locals call the Riviera delle Palme, a run of resort towns known for wide beaches and palm-lined promenades, and Alba Adriatica is one of the more relaxed, family-oriented stops along it.

How to get there

By train: Alba Adriatica station, on the Adriatic line, is close to the seafront and a short walk from the beach.

By bus: Local buses connect Alba Adriatica with Tortoreto and other towns along the Teramo coast.

Parking: By car: Exit the A14 at Alba Adriatica-Tortoreto and follow signs for the seafront, where the beach and concessions line the coast. Paid and free parking is available along the seafront and nearby streets, tighter near the busiest beach concessions in peak summer.

On foot: The seafront promenade and cycle path run the length of the beach, connecting to Tortoreto to the south.

Facilities

Beach concessions along the shore provide sunbed rental, changing cabins, toilets and showers as standard, with lifeguards on duty and restaurants/bars along the seafront.

Practical tips

Rent bikes to explore the promenade cycle path down toward Tortoreto, which stays flat and shaded in parts. Basic changing cabins and showers are available at essentially every beach concession, so it's an easy beach to visit for just a few hours without much planning.
