Overview

Roseto degli Abruzzi takes its name from the roses planted along its seafront, and its beach - locally nicknamed the Lido delle Rose - is one of the most popular family stretches on the Teramo coast. Fine, delicate sand runs for over seven kilometres with a very gently sloping seabed, and the town has held Blue Flag status since 1999, backed by a full range of beach concessions and a rose-lined promenade.

How to get there

By train: Roseto degli Abruzzi station, on the Adriatic line, is close to the town centre and a short walk from the beach.

By bus: Local buses connect Roseto with Giulianova, Silvi and other towns along the Teramo coast.

Parking: By car: Exit the A14 at Roseto degli Abruzzi and follow signs for the seafront, where the beach and concessions run the length of the town. Paid and free parking is available along the seafront and nearby streets, busiest close to the most popular beach concessions in summer.

On foot: The seafront promenade and cycling path run the length of the beach, connecting to Giulianova and Silvi in either direction.

Facilities

Extensive beach concessions offer sunbed rental, watersports and children's facilities, with lifeguards on duty; restaurants, bars and shops line the rose-planted seafront promenade.

Practical tips

Choose a beach concession with a children's play area if travelling with young kids, since several of the larger stabilimenti cater specifically to families. Rent a bike to explore the promenade cycle path up to Giulianova or down to Silvi on a quieter day.
