Overview

Silvi Marina is a long, gently curving sandy beach on the Teramo coast, backed by low hills that rise to the medieval hilltop village of Silvi Alta above. The beach stretches roughly seven kilometres with fine golden sand and a shallow, slow-sloping seabed, and it's one of the more established family resort beaches on this stretch of the Abruzzo coast, with the historic old town as an easy add-on above.

How to get there

By train: Silvi station, on the Adriatic line, is close to the seafront and a short walk or bus ride from the beach.

By bus: Local buses connect Silvi Marina's seafront with Silvi Alta and neighbouring coastal towns.

Parking: By car: Exit the A14 at Pineto-Atri or Città Sant'Angelo-Silvi and follow signs for Silvi Marina on the coast. Paid and free parking is available along the seafront and side streets, though it's tighter in peak summer near the busiest beach concessions.

On foot: The seafront promenade and cycle path run the length of the beach, and a road/path connects up to Silvi Alta's old town.

Facilities

A long run of stabilimenti covers most of the beach with sunbed and umbrella rental and watersports, with lifeguards on duty; restaurants and bars line the seafront promenade behind the sand.

Practical tips

Head up to Silvi Alta for dinner or an evening walk - it's a short drive or bus ride from the beach and much cooler once the sun sets. Rent bikes if you want to explore the coast further, since the promenade cycle path connects easily to Pescara and Roseto degli Abruzzi.
