More about Porto Maurizio

Spiaggia d’Oro is one of the most recognisable beaches in Imperia Porto Maurizio and one of the classic sandy beach spots on the Riviera dei Fiori. Set close to Borgo Marina, with the old town of Porto Maurizio rising behind it, the beach combines seaside convenience with one of Imperia’s most attractive historic settings. The beach is known for its golden sand and long-standing stabilimenti, including historic beach clubs in the Porto Maurizio area. This makes it a good choice if you want a more comfortable Ligurian beach day, with sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, bars and restaurants nearby. Unlike many rocky or pebbly beaches in Liguria, Spiaggia d’Oro feels more resort-like and easier for a relaxed full day by the sea. This part of Imperia works well for families, couples and travellers who want to combine beach time with a proper town. You can swim in the morning, have lunch near Borgo Marina, explore the old lanes of Porto Maurizio or walk towards Parasio for views over the coast. It is also a useful base if you want to visit other Riviera dei Fiori towns such as Sanremo, Ospedaletti, Bordighera or Cervo. Spiaggia d’Oro is not the wildest or most natural beach in Liguria. Its appeal is comfort, access and atmosphere: a sandy shoreline, beach clubs, public sections, restaurants nearby and the historic backdrop of Porto Maurizio. In July and August, it can get busy, especially at weekends and around the equipped beach areas, so booking ahead or arriving early is a good idea. For the best experience, visit in May, June or September, when the weather is warm but the beach is easier to enjoy. In peak summer, treat it as a popular Riviera dei Fiori beach town rather than a quiet hidden spot.
