Spiaggia di Ospedaletti is a relaxed beach destination on the Riviera dei Fiori, set between Sanremo and Bordighera in western Liguria. It is a good choice if you want clear water, beach clubs and a slower seaside atmosphere without the crowds and scale of the better-known resorts nearby. The beaches in Ospedaletti are mostly pebbly or mixed, which is typical of this part of the Ligurian coast. Water shoes can make swimming more comfortable, especially when entering and leaving the sea. The water is often clear, but the seabed may deepen more quickly than on sandy family beaches, so it is better for swimming than for very shallow paddling. Ospedaletti has both free public beach areas and equipped sections where you can usually rent sunbeds and umbrellas in season. This makes it flexible for different types of beach day: a quick swim, a relaxed morning by the sea, or a more comfortable day using a stabilimento. One of the main reasons to visit Ospedaletti is its easy Riviera dei Fiori atmosphere. The town feels quieter and more residential than Sanremo, while still being close enough to combine with Sanremo, Bordighera or the cycle path along the old railway line. The coastal cycling route is one of the best ways to enjoy this stretch of western Liguria, with sea views and an easy, mostly flat route nearby. Ospedaletti is best for travellers who want a low-key beach stop with clear water, local restaurants, beach facilities and a calmer feel. It is not the most dramatic beach in Liguria, but it works well as a practical and pleasant seaside base on the Riviera di Ponente. In July and August, the beach areas can still get busy, especially around equipped sections and weekends. For the best experience, visit in May, June or September, or arrive early in the day during peak summer.
