Capo Bianco

Capo Bianco lies about a kilometre north of Portoferraio's historic centre, a long, narrow beach of white gravel and pebbles set beneath the pale cliffs that give the spot its name. A short flight of steps leads down from a clifftop restaurant and bar to the shore. It's an easy, well-signposted beach to reach, though parking comes at a price in peak season.

Capo Bianco sits just outside Portoferraio, reached by following Viale Einaudi out of the historic centre for about a kilometre until the signs for the beach appear. The shoreline is long and narrow, made up of white gravel and pebbles beneath the pale limestone cliffs that give the beach its name - a striking contrast against the blue water below. An open-air restaurant and bar sits perched on the cliffs just before the steps down to the beach, with sea views across to make the most of food and drinks on offer. On the sand itself, a small rental point offers sunbeds and umbrellas for anyone who wants them, alongside free sections of the pebbles. Parking is straightforward but not free: a large dirt car park overlooks the beach, charging from around €12 a day. For a cheaper option, free street parking exists about 700 metres back towards Portoferraio, though you'll need to arrive early to find a space. Capo Bianco suits an easy, well-signposted beach day close to Portoferraio, with a clifftop restaurant on hand if you don't want to bring your own food - convenient rather than remote, and an easy add-on if you're staying in or near town.
