Fiumicello Beach is one of the most practical and popular beaches in Maratea. Set along Basilicata’s Tyrrhenian coast, it has clear water, a pebbly shoreline, beach clubs and restaurants nearby, making it easier to visit than some of Maratea’s smaller, more dramatic coves.

How to get there
By train: Maratea has a train station, but you may still need a taxi, local bus or transfer to reach the beach
By bus: Local buses may connect parts of Maratea with the beach area, especially in summer, but schedules can be limited. Check locally before relying on the bus.
Parking: Fiumicello Beach is easiest to reach by car or scooter from Maratea and the surrounding area. Parking is usually easier than at some of the smaller coves, but it can still fill up in peak summer
On foot: If you are staying nearby, Fiumicello may be reachable on foot, but Maratea is spread out and hilly, so check the walking route before setting off.

It does not have the same dramatic black-sand look as Spiaggia Nera, but it is much easier for a relaxed beach day. The beach sits in a sheltered coastal setting, with clear water and a pebbly shoreline. It is popular with families, couples and visitors staying in Maratea who want a beach with facilities nearby. In summer, the beach clubs make it simple to spend the day here with sunbeds, umbrellas and food close at hand. Fiumicello is particularly useful if you are travelling with children or do not want to deal with difficult access. Some Maratea beaches involve steep paths, steps or more limited facilities, but Fiumicello is one of the more straightforward options. The water is usually clear and inviting, especially on calm days. Like many beaches along this stretch of coast, the seabed can be pebbly, so water shoes are recommended. It is a good beach for swimming, relaxing and spending a few hours by the sea without needing too much planning. In July and August, Fiumicello can get busy, especially during weekends and the middle of the day. For a calmer experience, arrive early or visit in June or September, when the weather is still warm but the beach feels more relaxed.
