✈️ By air - Turin Caselle (TRN) is the closest major airport, roughly 110 km and around 1h45 by road. Milan Malpensa (MXP) is around 150 km / 2 hours. Geneva (GVA) is also a realistic option.

🚗 By car - From Turin or Aosta take the A5 motorway to the Verrès exit, then follow the SR45 up the Ayas valley to Champoluc. Winter tyres or chains are legally required in season.

🚆 By train + bus - The nearest station is Verrès on the Turin-Aosta line, around 30 km away, with onward buses up to Champoluc taking around 50 minutes. Total journey time from Turin is roughly 2-2h30.

As a frazione of the comune of Ayas, it's the largest and most developed of the villages that make up Monterosa Ski, with more hotels, restaurants and shops than its neighbours in the Gressoney and Alagna valleys.

Like the rest of the area, Champoluc's roots trace back to the Walser migrations of the 12th and 13th centuries, when Germanic-speaking settlers from Switzerland's Valais crossed the high passes into these valleys. The village kept a small historic centre through the centuries that followed as a farming community, and only saw significant tourism development more recently, gathering further momentum around the infrastructure improvements that came with the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics in neighbouring Piedmont.
