One of the longest and easiest beaches on the Amalfi Coast, with beach clubs, restaurants and a family-friendly feel.
Maiori Beach is one of the most practical beaches on the Amalfi Coast, especially if you want space, facilities and easy access. Unlike many small coves along the coast, Maiori has a long, open seafront with a wide pebble-and-sand beach, beach clubs, restaurants and a relaxed town atmosphere.
Free public access from Maiori seafront
Beach clubs available: Yes — sunbeds and umbrellas can usually be rented in season.
By train: Can't reach by train but seasonal ferries connect Maiori with other Amalfi Coast towns such as Amalfi, Minori and Salerno, depending on the route and time of year. This is often one of the easiest ways to arrive in summer.
By bus: SITA buses run along the Amalfi Coast road and stop in Maiori. From the town centre, the beach is easy to reach on foot.
Parking: Maiori is generally more practical for drivers than Positano or Amalfi, but parking can still be limited and busy in high season. A scooter is easier than a car if you are travelling along the coast.
On foot: If you are staying in Maiori, the beach is very easy to reach on foot. You can also walk between Maiori and Minori along the coast or via the scenic Lemon Path if you want to combine beach time with a short walk.
Maiori Beach is one of the easiest beaches on the Amalfi Coast to actually spend a full day on. While many beaches in this area are small coves reached by steep steps, Maiori has a long seafront, more open space and a much more straightforward layout. The beach runs along the town, with beach clubs, restaurants, cafés and hotels close by. The shoreline is a mix of pebbles, small stones and coarse sand, so it is not a soft sandy beach in the classic sense. Still, compared with many Amalfi Coast beaches, it feels practical and comfortable. The water is usually clear and good for swimming, and the wider beach means it can feel less cramped than places like Atrani, Marina di Praia or Fiordo di Furore. Maiori is a particularly good choice for families. You do not need to walk down hundreds of steps, carry everything to a tiny cove or rely on a boat shuttle. You can arrive, rent sunbeds if you want them, swim, have lunch nearby and take a break along the seafront whenever needed. It is also a good option if you are travelling with people who prefer convenience over dramatic cliffside access. The atmosphere is more relaxed and local than Positano or Amalfi. Maiori does not have the same postcard glamour, but that can be part of the appeal. It feels easier, less staged and better suited to a proper beach day. For the best experience, visit outside peak August or arrive early if you want a good spot on the free beach. Maiori is still popular in summer, but because the beach is longer than most on the coast, it gives you more breathing room than many of the smaller Amalfi Coast beaches.
