By bus: Local buses connect Levanto with nearby villages and hillside hamlets, but services are less frequent than trains and mainly useful for short local trips

More about Levanto Beach

Levanto Beach is one of the best beaches in Liguria for a classic seaside day, especially if you want more space, easy access and a relaxed town atmosphere. Set in a wide bay just north of the Cinque Terre, Levanto has a long sand-and-pebble shoreline, clear water and a backdrop of colourful buildings, hills and coastal scenery. The beach is a great choice if you are looking for a more practical and spacious alternative to the smaller coves and crowded beaches of the Cinque Terre. The water is good for swimming, the town is easy to explore on foot, and there are plenty of cafés, restaurants, gelato shops and places for aperitivo nearby. Levanto Beach is partly sandy and partly pebbly, depending on the section, so it is more comfortable than many rocky Ligurian beaches but still useful to bring water shoes. The beach has both public areas and managed beach clubs, making it flexible whether you want a free beach day or prefer to rent sunbeds and umbrellas. One of the biggest advantages of Levanto is how easy it is to reach without a car. Levanto train station is within walking distance of the beach, with regular connections to Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. This makes Levanto one of the best bases for visiting the Cinque Terre while still having a proper beach nearby. Levanto is also popular for surfing when conditions are right, as the bay can catch waves more than many other beaches on this part of the Ligurian coast. On calmer days, it is better for swimming, paddleboarding and relaxed beach time. For the best experience, visit Levanto Beach in May, June or September, when the weather is warm and the town is lively but less crowded than in peak summer. In July and August, arrive early if you want a good spot on the public beach or plan ahead if you want to use a beach club.
