Long free public sections
Beach clubs available: Yes — sunbeds and umbrellas can usually be rented in season.
By train: Camogli-San Fruttuoso railway station - then a 5–10 minute walk downhill to the seafront. This is the easiest and most recommended option, with regular trains along the Genoa–La Spezia line
By bus: Local buses connect Camogli with nearby towns along the Ligurian coast, stopping close to the centre. Service is available but less frequent compared to trains, especially in the evening or off-season
Parking: Limited paid parking available on the outskirts and uphill above the centre - spaces fill quickly in summer due to the compact historic layout, so arriving early is strongly recommended
On foot: Easy if staying in Camogli, while c.15-20m walk from Recco
Camogli Beach is one of the most beautiful and characterful beaches on the Ligurian coast, set beneath the colourful seafront houses of Camogli and facing the clear blue water of the Golfo Paradiso. With its dramatic backdrop, pebble shoreline and lively village atmosphere, it is one of the best places near Genoa for a scenic beach day. The beach is a great choice if you want to combine swimming with a classic Ligurian seaside town. The water is usually clear on calm days, and the setting is especially photogenic, with pastel buildings, fishing boats, the harbour and views towards the Portofino coastline. Camogli is not a hidden beach, but it has a relaxed, local feel that makes it different from more resort-style beach destinations. Camogli Beach is mostly pebbles and small stones, so water shoes can make swimming more comfortable. The beach is good for swimming and sunbathing, but it can get busy in summer, especially at weekends and during the Italian holiday season. For more space and a quieter atmosphere, visit in the morning, late afternoon or outside July and August. One of the best things about Camogli is how easy it is to enjoy the beach alongside food, drinks and village life. You can stop for breakfast by the sea, have focaccia or seafood for lunch, stay for an aperitivo near the harbour, or have dinner in one of the restaurants along the waterfront. It works just as well for a full beach day as it does for a shorter swim and meal by the sea. Camogli is also a great base for exploring the surrounding coast. From here, you can take boats towards San Fruttuoso and Portofino, walk sections of the Portofino Regional Park, or continue along the coast to nearby Recco. It is one of the easiest Ligurian beaches to visit without a car, with Camogli train station within walking distance of the seafront. For the best experience, visit Camogli Beach in May, June or September, when the weather is warm but the crowds are more manageable. In peak summer, arrive early and treat Camogli as a popular seaside town rather than a quiet hidden beach.
