Bergeggi is one of the most beautiful coastal areas in Liguria and one of the best places to swim on the Riviera di Ponente. Set between Spotorno, Vado Ligure and the protected marine area around Isola di Bergeggi, it is known for clear blue water, dramatic cliffs and scenic views across the small island just offshore. The beach is a great choice if you are looking for transparent water, snorkelling and a more natural Ligurian coastline. The sea around Bergeggi is especially popular with swimmers and snorkellers, thanks to its rocky seabed, marine life and protected setting. On calm days, the water can be beautifully clear, making Bergeggi one of the most photogenic beach spots near Savona. Although it feels wild and scenic, Bergeggi is not a hidden beach. It sits close to the Via Aurelia coastal road and is very popular in summer, especially in July and August. For easier parking and fewer crowds, it is best to arrive early in the morning or later in the afternoon. The shoreline is mostly pebbles and small stones, so water shoes are useful. The beach is excellent for swimming, snorkelling and enjoying the views of Isola di Bergeggi, but it can feel busy in high season, so it is better for a scenic swim than a quiet, spacious beach day. Bergeggi is easiest to reach by car, although parking near the beach can be limited and fills quickly in peak season. Without a car, the nearest useful train stations are Spotorno-Noli or Savona, with onward bus or taxi connections towards Bergeggi. Staying in Spotorno, Noli, Savona or along the nearby coast makes the visit easier. For the best experience, visit in May, June or September, when the weather is warm but the beach is less crowded. In peak summer, treat Bergeggi as a popular must-see beach and marine area rather than a secret cove.
